For the first time, the Cluster of Excellence in Aging CECAD is a sponsor of WISSENSWERTE (www.wissenswerte-bremen.de) - the most important German-language dialog forum for science journalists, university and science communicators, and researchers interested in the media. The three-day event is taking place for the 20th time and this year is hosted by Freiburg. It kicked off yesterday, October 25.
The three-day program features prominent panel discussions and lectures on current journalistic and scientific topics, as well as workshops with practitioners. Presentations by top researchers on the latest research trends and technological visions for the future are on the program, as are discussions on professional ethics in the development of science journalism. One of the main topics this year is artificial intelligence (AI) around ChatGPT or Bard - how to use them and what opportunities and risks they offer.
Since its premiere in 2004, WISSENSWERTE has become the most important science journalism event in the German-speaking world. Around 500 participants come together each year for the forum for science journalism. WISSENSWERTE is supported by the German Research Foundation, the Leibniz Association, the Leopoldina - National Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the Max Planck Society, BASF, Bayer, the Volkswagen Foundation and other sponsors, which now also include the Cluster of Excellence in Aging CECAD.
