Three Max Planck Scientists and members of CECAD will receive this year the highest personal award that the European Union can award to researchers. With this decision, the European Research Council (ERC) supports the scientific city of Cologne with an additional € 7.5 million for the next five years. This makes a decisive contribution to the further development of Cologne as one of the most important German research centers.
Professor Linda Partridge, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, Professor Nils-Göran Larsson, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing and Professor Jens Brüning, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Metabolic Research and Coordinator of the CECAD Cluster of Excellence for Aging Research at the University of Cologne were able to win the Research Prize in the latest award.
The European Research Council supports innovative basic and pioneering research. The only selection criterion is scientific excellence. The ERC Advanced Grants are awarded to leading scientists of all disciplines and enable a project to be carried out over a five-year period with a subsidy sum of up to 2.5 million euros.
