On 4-5 April 2019, the 8th CECAD PhD/Postdoc Retreat took place in Liège, a Belgian city that is the economic and cultural center of the region and where a dozen of biotech companies are settled.

The event gathered 70 PhD students and Postdocs from CECAD, the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing and the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research. During the event, everyone had the chance to discuss their projects in two round table sessions and some of the participants presented their research in more detail in presentations that covered different topics, such as Lifespan & Longevity, Metabolism or Mass Spectrometry Methodology. The young researchers who attended the 8th CECAD Retreat also assisted to a career talk given by Wassim Lakhal, from Diagenode, a company based in Liège that supplies products for next generation sequencing, proteomics and epigenetics research.

The event organized by the CECAD PhD and Postdoc Committee successfully promoted the generation of valuable feedback and scientific communication within PhD students and Postdocs of different research fields from the CECAD research cluster.
