Malkon Guillermo Sanchez Estrada and Annamaria Regina won the regional FameLab at Bielefeld

Three minutes. Just enough time to brew a cup of tea. But can it be enough to explain complex scientific concepts like the fate of the universe or the functions of stem cells?

At FameLab, the international science communication competition, young researchers get exactly 180 seconds to make their science accessible and entertaining, for both a live audience and a top-tier jury. FameLab Germany 2025 has kicked off, with regional heats held across the country to determine who will compete in the national final in Bielefeld.

This year’s Bielefeld preliminary round took place at the Wissenswerkstadt and CECAD was brilliantly represented.
CECAD Doctoral students Malkon and Annamaria from Dr. Mauro Corrado’s lab delivered compelling presentations that turned cutting-edge molecular biology into stories with real-world impact. Their talks were met with enthusiasm and applause, showcasing their talent not only in research, but in communication.

Congratulations to both for securing a place on this prestigious stage and for taking CECAD’s research into the international spotlight. We’re thrilled to announce that they will represent NRW at the national FameLab final in June 2025.
