We are pleased to invite you to the next RTG2550 Reloc Seminar Series, taking place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Auditorium of the MPI for Biology of Aging. We are honored to host Prof. Dr. Malene Hansen from the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, who will present a talk titled:
"Cellular recycling in aging and disease – the importance of taking out the trash"
The focus of Professor Hansen’s research revolves around a key cellular process, namely autophagy. Combining genetic, biochemical, and pharmacological approaches in C. elegans and human cell culture systems, her lab investigates how autophagy is regulated, how it changes with age, and how its dysfunction contributes to diseases and aging. By exploring these mechanisms, Professor Hansen’s work has greatly advanced our understanding of the biology of aging.
If you wish to talk to Professor Hansen, please feel free to contact Shayan (smotiei[at]smail.uni-koeln.de). Furthermore, as usual, we will offer a student lunch with the speaker, stay tuned!
