After the presentations, there will be a dedicated one-on-one coaching session (approx. 15 minutes/person) where you can speak with the trainers individually and address any specific questions regarding your funding needs. Patricia Hoff studied European Studies (M.A.) at Cardiff University in Wales after completing her B.A. in European Studies at the University of Passau. During her studies, she completed several internships such as in New York City as part of the German American Partnership Program or in Brussels at the EU office of the Goethe-Institut. From 2007 to 2013, she worked at KoWi (Kooperationsstelle EU der Wissenschaftsorganisationen), an advisory office on EU research funding, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in Bonn. There she was responsible for advising on Marie Curie Actions as well as on the European Research Council (ERC). Since October 2013, she has been working in Department 71 Analysis and Consulting in Department 7 Research Management at the University of Cologne. Her responsibilities include funding research, application advice, and event management.
Sonja Kloppenburghas been working in Department 7 Research Management as a project manager in Dept. 71 "Analysis and Consulting" since 2015. She advises scientists on funding opportunities for research projects, searches for suitable national and international funding opportunities, and provides support in concrete applications to national funding organizations such as the DFG, the BMBF, etc. After studying Literature and Cultural Studies and International Relations in Bonn, Münster, St Andrews and Toronto, she completed training and further education in the field of third-party funding administration and project management. Before joining the University of Cologne, she was employed as a project manager in a project on international cooperation in sustainable development funded by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research (MIWF NRW), which was based at the University of Bonn.
Dr. Simona Walker has been working at the Dean’s Office and the Vice Dean’s Office of Science - Translation - Transfer of the Medical Faculty since 2020. She advises scientists of the Medical Faculty at all career levels in applying for third-party funding from all funding agencies in the field of basic science. She supports the search for suitable funding opportunities, advises on formal requirements and gives feedback on funding proposals. She studied Biomedical Sciences in Marburg and Stockholm and received her doctorate in Tissue Engineering at the Dresden University of Technology.
