Approved funding for IMAgein: A collaborative European program involving five universities, offering specialized study paths in biology of aging and regeneration.

The proposal for the funding of a new International Master in Biology of Aging (IMAgein) involving the participation of Prof. Björn Schumacher from the CECAD Cluster of Excellence at the University of Cologne has been approved. The application was submitted as part of the highly esteemed Erasmus+ funding line Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) of the European Commission. The international application consortium under the leadership of the University of Cote d'Azur (Nice, France) consists of the University of Cologne, the University of Seville, the University of Coimbra and the Sorbonne University (Paris).

The aim of the study program is to combine the expertise of five European universities to educate students in the field of biology of ageing. They will have the opportunity to choose between different study paths and specialize in “Fundamental Research”, “Applied Medical Research” or “Biotechnology and Innovation”, according to their interests and career plan. Graduates should become scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals capable of working in various interdisciplinary and international academic and private sector environments.

Approximately 25 students per year will be admitted. The study program is scheduled to start in the winter semester 2025/26.
