Johanna Wanka visits CECAD and Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing
As part of her summer tour "The future of growing old" the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Johanna Wanka, will visit selected research locations throughout Germany.
During her visit to the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing and CECAD, the Cluster of Excellence in Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-associated Diseases at the University of Cologne on 28 July 2016, she will be informed about research in Cologne.
All media representatives are cordially invited to attend the visit.
As a center of research, Cologne is home to the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research and the University of Cologne with its cluster of excellence CECAD. Together with other regional partners, researchers strive to uncover the basic causes of ageing and work on therapies for age-related diseases. These include diabetes, obesity, neurodegeneration, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Novel findings can be applied in the clinics because of the close link between basic and clinical research.
Adam Antebi, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, Axel Freimuth, Rector of the University of Cologne and Thomas Krieg, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine will welcome Johanna Wanka.
