Improving awareness, care and research

Prof. Dr. Frank Jessen, Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Cologne University Hospital, is a newly appointed member of the World Dementia Council (WDC). The WDC was founded as a result of the G8 Dementia Summit 2013 in London. The thirty members are leading scientists and representatives of international patient organizations, philanthropic research funders, the pharmaceutical industry and international health policy. The aim of the WDC is to sustainably pursue the goals associated with the Dementia Summit and thus improve global awareness, care and research funding for dementia. "We are currently experiencing significant medical breakthroughs in dementia. I would like to contribute to the WDC to find ways for people with dementia around the world to participate in this progress," says Prof. Jessen.
