Professor Michael Hallek elected to the National Academy of Sciences

The National Academy of Sciences have conferred membership of the Leopoldina on Prof. Dr Michael Hallek, Professor for Internal Medicine and Director of the Department of Internal Medicine I at the University Hospital of Cologne. The leukemia specialist of international standing will from now on represent his specialist field within the National Academy of Sciences.

The National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is the oldest scholarly society for Natural Sciences and Medicine in Germany.  Outstanding researchers from all over the world – including a large number of Nobel prizewinners – have been members, and now Prof Dr Michael Hallek, Deputy Coordinator of CECAD, the Cluster of Excellence for Aging Research has joined their ranks.
