University of Cologne honors Jens Brüning with Research Award

CECAD congratulates Professor Jens Brüning on receiving the University Award for Research 2024 in recognition of his exceptional scientific achievements and his contribution to Cologne’s reputation as a leading research hub.

On April 29, 2025, Professor Dr Jens Brüning was awarded the University Award in the category of Research during the Rector’s Annual Reception at the University of Cologne. CECAD warmly congratulates him on this distinguished recognition.

Jens Brüning is among the world’s most respected researchers in the fields of endocrinology and metabolism. As Director of the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research, Professor at the University of Cologne, and a Principal Investigator at CECAD, his research has led to groundbreaking insights into the mechanisms underlying obesity, diabetes, and aging.

The University Award recognizes not only his internationally outstanding scientific contributions but also his pivotal role in shaping Cologne’s position as an international center for biomedical research.
