The CECAD PhD student/PostDoc committee is a group of young researchers at CECAD that offers various events like talks, get-togethers and retreats to improve communication and help PhD students and PostDocs orientate for their future careers.

On September 26, 2017 the committee organised an outing to the Miltenyi Biotec GmbH at Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne.

This biotechnology company, founded in 1989 as a spin-off from the Institute for Genetics from the University of Cologne, is one of Germany’s biggest employers in the biotechnology field. Its portfolio offers products that find application from basic research to clinics. All this makes Miltenyi Biotec a highly attractive destination for junior researchers looking for career options at Miltenyi Biotec.

Miltenyi Biotec generously invited 50 visitors and arranged an interesting program for the day.

After an introduction to the company’s history, structure and principles, talks given by various speakers offered insight into exciting topics as research and development, sales and marketing or clinical development.

Another highlight was a presentation given by a talent acquisition specialist sharing valuable knowledge about career options at Miltenyi Biotec and successful job application in general.

An interactive lunch and guided tours of the Miltenyi Biotec Campus allowed further networking and gave the possibility to ask questions to employees of different sectors.

Both CECAD and Miltenyi Biotec enjoyed the highly interesting and informative event.
