With Prof. Müller’s research group at the Excellence Cluster CECAD tries to bridge the gap between basic scientific research and clinical medicine. In the laboratory, he focuses on modern RNA biology and combines the approaches of RNA biology with clinical studies in nephrology. "Teaching should focus to be relevant to clinical practice and ensure an understanding of the diseases and their therapy," said Prof. Müller. However, he also wants to get his students interested in research: "Students should get to know the added value of scientific medicine. I want to introduce them to translational research during their studies".
Prof. Müller attended medical school at the Universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg from 2000 to 2007. He completed his scientific training at Rockefeller University in New York and Yale University in New Haven. In 2014, Prof. Müller obtained the board certification in internal medicine and nephrology. Since 2015, he has been working as a research group leader at the CECAD excellence cluster, in parallel to his clinical involvement in nephrology.
