Do you have an idea that could make your lab more sustainable?

Are you ready to take on the challenge to reduce waste, cut energy use, or rethink resource consumption in your research environment?

Join the Green-up Your Lab competition and turn your eco-friendly vision into reality.

What is it about?

We’re calling on research teams from the University of Cologne to come up with creative, practical, and impactful ideas to increase sustainability in their lab. 

Who can apply?

Anyone working in the lab at UoC and University Hospital Cologne: students, technicians, postdocs, PIs - any lab members!
Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged. There are no limits on team size or the number of teams from a single lab.

What do you need to do?

Submit a written proposal (max. 500 words) describing:

  • What your idea is
  • How it would be implemented
  • How it will make your lab greener
  •  A cost estimate (required)

Figures, images, or schemes are welcome.​​​​​​

What’s in it for you?

  • Funding of up to €5.000 to implement the winning idea(s).

How will your proposal be assessed?

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Impact on sustainability
  • Feasibility and ease of implementation, also for other labs
  • Innovation
